Waste Management is committed to encourage School recycling!
When you consider the waste that is generated at schools, much of what is
considered trash, it is really recyclable - Paper
A typical school's waste stream consists of more than 40% paper! This easily recycled material can be made into new paper products. To recycle the paper first use both sides of the paper and it's time to recycle it! Current research mentions that recycling one ton of paper is approximately saving 17 trees and 8 cubic feet of landfill space. Approximately 11-14 times Waste Management empties a 96 gallon toter from your school, it equals 1 ton.
From the average school that can be easily be accomplished once a month!
Recycling one ton of paper also:
- Produces 25% less air pollution
- Uses 40% less water
- Uses 50% less energy
- Produces 65% less water pollution.
Waste Management can provide the school Toters, a convenient 96 gallon cart on wheels, that is designed to deposit paper from smaller classroom bins that may be distributed throughout the school. Once the toter is full, place it in the designated area and Waste Management will empty the toter on collection day. We can also provide some assistance with providing the classroom with smaller individual containers.
